Overview:
Southern Metals Recycling Company seeks an experienced Outside Buyer to procure ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials from industrial & commercial supplier accounts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new and maintain existing customer accounts while targeting potential growth opportunities.
- Source scrap metal materials and negotiate specifications and payment terms.
- Meet or exceed volume and margin goals.
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among all departments.
- Oversee and follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Enforce safety regulations; Recommend measures to assist in protecting employees from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Demonstrate positive Customer Service traits such as politeness, courtesy, and patience; Answer questions about customer’s materials, pricing, resolve complaints, deal positively with difficult customers.
- Update and input weekly sales tracking report.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in scrap metal buying
- Knowledgeable in recycled materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing product profit.
- Strong people skills, proficiency in MS Office, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent time-management, communication, cold-calling, and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record to operate company provided vehicle.
