About the Role
About the role: Justteachers are on the lookout for a patient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH School in Thetford on a full-time, long-term supply basis from September 2026. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils who require additional support both inside and outside the classroom. Key Responsibilities: Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities Supporting students to regulate their emotions and develop coping strategies Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning Building strong, trusting relationships with students Encouraging social skills, confidence, and independence Supporting pupils both in the classroom and during intervention activities Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals Pre-requisites: Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs Two education or school based references Be patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure Have strong communication and interpersonal skills Be a positive role model who can build meaningful relationships with students Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children If you are interested in this role, please apply below.
