Finance Assistant

​Our client is a well known organisation located just outside York. They are seeking a capable Finance Assistant to join and support their wider Finance Team. ​ Key Responsibilities: Carry out account reconciliations, post journals and prepare reports for key stakeholders. Process intercompany transactions. Track departmental spend and produce reports for budget owners. Submit payments through the banking platform, including BACS files and ad hoc transfers. Provide cover for the purchase ledger function during staff leave. Maintain accurate invoice records, preparing and issuing invoices as required. Manage customer queries and disputes, while actively following up outstanding payments. Support invoice authorisation processes and respond to approval queries. Reconcile refundable deposits and handle related enquiries. Assist with data collection and the preparation of management accounts. Monitor shared inboxes and deliver support to both internal and external customers via phone. ​ Skills & Experience: Previous experience in a finance or accounts environment is advantageous. Good understanding of basic accounting practices and financial terminology. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including formulas and functions). Familiarity with Sage accounting software is beneficial but not essential. Confident, professional telephone manner. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail. Collaborative approach and positive team mindset.
