Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker (SEMH School) - Tradewind RecruitmentProfile Summary: A dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in specialist school settings. Committed to promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in education through a supportive and structured approach.Key Responsibilities:Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needsBuild strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, valued, and understoodSupport students in developing emotional regulation and coping strategiesAssist teachers in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environmentImplement individual behaviour plans and therapeutic strategiesUse de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations effectivelyMonitor, record, and report on student progress, behaviour, and wellbeingWork collaboratively with school staff, SENCOs, and external agenciesEncourage attendance, engagement, and personal developmentSkills & Experience:Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or mental health needsStrong behaviour management and communication skillsAbility to remain calm and resilient in challenging situationsKnowledge of safeguarding and child protection proceduresExperience in schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions (desirable)Personal Attributes:Empathetic, patient, and understandingResilient with a positive and proactive mindsetProfessional and adaptable to different school environmentsPassionate about supporting vulnerable young people to succeedCompliance & Suitability:Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)Right to work in the UKWillingness to work flexibly across different school settings through Tradewind Recruitment
