Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Aircraft Technicians are an integral part of our Maintenance team. Their experience, practical knowledge, creativity and problem-solving skills will ensure that the aircraft are always maintained in an airworthy and dispatch ready status while providing a quality and safety supervisory role to the assigned technical team.

The primary duties include maintaining the operational status of Top Aces’ fleet of aircraft, performing regular checks and maintenance, diagnosing issues, and repairing faulty equipment as well as supporting the training and development of the technical staff.

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician has a strong understanding of aircraft mechanics, is detail-oriented, and able to handle the physical demands of the job.

The EASA B1.1 license aspect is essential, to lead by example and provide the technical staff with a support.

Functional Responsibilities in accordance with Top Aces Maintenance Policy Manual:

Verify and certify that each maintenance action on company aircraft, including the embodiment of modifications or repairs, is certified in accordance with approved, specified, or acceptable data as defined in the Company MPM.

Perform and certify requested maintenance within the scope of their company assigned authorities, IAW CAR 571 using the policy and procedures described in this manual.

  • Ensure the work accomplished on any aircraft or component is in compliance with:  
    • Applicable airworthiness standards and OEM instructions
    • Company Policies and Procedures
    • Regulated safety standards
    • Authorized Qualifications issued by Top Aces Aircraft Maintenance Organization
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft as directed by the maintenance supervisor
  • Repair, or replace parts such as brakes, electrical systems, and other aircraft components
  • Test aircraft parts and systems using diagnostic equipment and approved company maintenance manuals
  • Configure aircraft mission systems and perform software updates
  • Execute calibration and ground performance testing of aircraft mission systems
  • Interpret and use various test equipment and work from wiring diagrams, blueprints, and maintenance manuals
  • Ensure that all replacement parts are inspected, eligible and properly certified prior to installation
  • Complete and certify work reports for all work accomplished on the aircraft
  • Follow company procedures as per the maintenance control manual using safe work practices
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

B1.1 Technician Supervisory Responsibilities:

The B1.1 Technician leads and supervises the allocated team of employees and is responsible for the workflow, enforcing company policies while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The B1.1 Technician will lead and provide mentorship to the allocated personnel while coordinating tasks as determined by the maintenance priorities. 
 
Furthermore, duties include, but are not limited to the following:  

  • Planning, coordinating and executing daily work for the team
  • Provide support for qualification training, sign logbooks and on job training forms
  • Ensuring safety and quality policies and standards are enforced
  • Ensuring administrative policies are enforced and managed (time control, breaks)
  • Providing feedback to the base lead in performance assessment of individuals and assists in the development of daily and longer-term deployment plans
  • Perform Employee Performance reviews of assigned technicians
  • As required; alternate to the base lead as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience within a military or commercial air operator environment
  • Experience in leading small aviation technical crew of 2-5 persons.
  • Proven track record of success working on complex assignments requiring considerable judgment, initiative and technical/specialized knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong command of the English language to read, understand and interpret manuals, policies and procedures
  • Able to work well in a team and within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician or a similar role
  • Holder of an EASA B1.1 AML for a minimum of 2 years or a Canadian AME M2 license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical work associated with the duties of Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Working Conditions

  • From time to time local travel may required for the position
  • The ability to work flexible work schedules according to flight operations

Supervisory, Training and Advisory Responsibilities:

  • As a Certifying Staff (EASA B1.1), being able to inspect, control and certify maintenance tasks performed by other technicians
  • Leading maintenance tasks on aircraft
  • Help grow other technicians to a higher level on the shopfloor

Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:

You will have the following responsibilities in order to comply with the company's Occupational Health and Safety program:

  • Working in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety acts and regulations
  • Following safe work practices and procedures and using safeguards and personal protective equipment
  • Reporting hazards (such as unsafe situations and activities) to their supervisor immediately.
