About the job
We are looking for an energetic and pragmatic Legal Officer to deliver comprehensive legal support across multiple aspects of our business, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing contracts, and minimizing legal risks. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding scale-up in the environmental commodities trading sector, where your skills will be essential in enhancing our contract management, due diligence, litigation, and compliance efforts, driving the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including trading agreements, NDAs, brokerage agreements and service agreements
- Support the legal assessment and implementation of new business ideas, helping to translate strategic initiatives into compliant and actionable legal structures
- Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance, including the preparation and maintenance of corporate governance documents
- Provide legal advice and support on regulatory compliance, particularly in the context of energy trading and OTC transactions, including monitoring legal and regulatory developments and advising the company on required actions
- Support in dispute resolution and coordinate any litigation or arbitration proceedings, including managing communications with external counsel in cross-border matters
- Flexibility to handle ad hoc legal and administrative tasks as needed, supporting evolving business priorities and cross-functional initiatives
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and Master’s degree in Law (LLM)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal professional, preferably with exposure to the energy or financial sector.
- Strong knowledge of civil and commercial law, contract law, regulatory compliance and corporate governance
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate diverse stakeholders and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently and make sound, well-reasoned legal decisions while maintaining efficiency under pressure
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch, German, or French is considered an asset
