About the Role
<p><b>Peninsula Sanitation, a</b> Waste Connections Company, is looking for a reliable and motivated Class A CDL Garbage Truck Driver to join our team in <b>Ilwaco, WA.</b></p><p></p><p>Previous waste industry experience is a big plus—but not required. We’re happy to train the right person!</p><p></p><p><b>The schedule is Monday–Friday, 6 AM</b><b>-4 PM</b> and occasional Saturdays as needed. You’ll average about 45 hours per week (overtime eligible) and be home every night!</p><p></p><p>The starting pay <b>$28/hr</b> with annual pay increases and bonus opportunities.</p><p></p><p><b>Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li><p>Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste. Waste experience is preferred but not required.</p></li><li><p>Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.</p></li><li><p>Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.</p></li><li><p>Perform a physically demanding job, including loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.</p></li><li><p>Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.</p></li><li><p>Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.</p></li><li><p>Working Conditions and Physical Effort:</p></li><li><p>Requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.</p></li><li><p>Work environment involves exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, requiring basic safety precautions.</p></li><li><p>Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including frequent wet and/or humid environments, as well as fumes and vibrations.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Minimum Job Requirements:</b></p><ul><li><p>Valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement</p></li><li><p>Clean driving record (please bring a copy of your MVR to the in-person interview)</p></li><li><p>Ability to operate 10-, 13-, and 18-speed transmissions (preferred, not required)</p></li><li><p>Minimum 1 year of relevant driving experience</p></li><li><p>Ability to read, write, and communicate in English</p></li><li><p>High school diploma or equivalent preferred</p></li><li><p><b>Safety-Sensitive – YES</b></p></li></ul><p></p><p>To be considered for any of our current openings, you must complete an application at www.careers.wasteconnections.com.
