Political Correspondent Job title: Political Correspondent Location: London   The Role  We are recruiting a talented Political Correspondent to strengthen our coverage on the real world impact of government policy.  This is an exciting opportunity to join the Westminster team at a title with momentum, ambition and a clear subscriber strategy.   We are focused on exclusive reporting and distinctive insight on the stories that matter to our readers.  You will reveal and explain how decisions made in Westminster have real world impact, and  will be comfortable reporting from SW1 and beyond.    Key Responsibilities  -Deliver original stories and exclusives that reveal the real-world impact of government policy  -Translate complex political decisions into their everyday consequences  -Identify real world angles others have missed into major political stories  -Produce authoritative explainers and sharp analysis that explains not just what government is doing, but how it affects readers  -Be flexible to reporting on the impact of government policy from beyond Westminster  -Collaborate with audience teams to maximise reach, engagement and subscriber value  -Experiment with innovative digital formats, including social video   -Uphold The i Paper’s position of political impartiality at all times    About You  -A strong track record in political, specialist, or consumer affairs reporting  -Demonstrable ability to translate government policy into real-world impact for households and individuals  -Good contacts across politics, policy or relevant sectors, with the drive to build more  -Clear, authoritative writing style with the ability to explain complex issues simply  -Strong understanding of the UK political landscape and how policy is formed and implemented  -Digitally savvy, with experience of driving audience engagement  -Creative, curious and keen to develop new ways of telling policy-driven stories  -Calm and collaborative in a fast-moving news environment  -Ambitious, rigorous and committed to editorial excellence    Package Description  Our benefits package increases the longer you’ve been with us.
