<strong>CAD Engineer – Lighting Controls</strong><br><strong>Location:</strong> Chiswick, London (Hybrid – 3 days in the office)<br><strong>Salary:</strong> £35,000 - £40,000 DOE<br><br>Are you an experienced CAD Engineer with a background in electrical systems, building services, or lighting controls?<br><br>Do you want to work on innovative commercial and architectural projects, helping to design intelligent lighting control systems for some of the UK's most exciting developments?<br><br>Due to continued growth, we are looking for a CAD Engineer to join a specialist Lighting Controls team based in Chiswick. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise within a growing sector that sits at the forefront of smart buildings, energy efficiency, and modern lighting technology.<br>Working closely with Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers, Electrical Contractors, and Clients, you will play a key role in producing accurate technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts that ensure projects are delivered successfully from design through to installation.<br><br><strong>The Role</strong><br>As a CAD Engineer, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining technical drawings for lighting control systems used across commercial, architectural, and high-end building projects.<br>Your responsibilities will include:<ul><li>Producing detailed lighting control schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.</li><ul><li>Creating system layouts for lighting control networks and devices.</li><li>Designing drawings that incorporate DALI networks, occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, lighting control panels, emergency lighting interfaces, switches, and user control systems.</li><li>Developing control system layouts and device schedules.</li><li>Interpreting electrical drawings, consultant specifications, and client requirements.</li><li>Updating and revising drawings throughout the project lifecycle.</li><li>Ensuring all documentation complies with project requirements, company standards, and industry regulations.</li><li>Supporting project delivery teams with accurate and well-structured technical information.</li></ul></ul><br><strong>What We're Looking For</strong><br><ul><li>Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.</li><ul><li>Good understanding of electrical principles and wiring practices.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and construction drawings.</li><li>Knowledge of DALI lighting control systems and associated devices.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate technical documentation.</li><li>Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.</li><li>Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.</li></ul></ul><br><strong>Desirable Experience</strong><br><ul><li>Previous experience within the lighting controls industry.</li><ul><li>Knowledge of DALI-2 standards.</li><li>Understanding of commissioning principles.</li><li>Electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND, or Degree.</li><li>Experience producing as-built drawings and technical documentation.</li></ul></ul><br><strong>What's On Offer</strong><br><ul><li>Salary of £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.</li><ul><li>Hybrid working model with 3 days in the office.</li><li>Ongoing training and development opportunities.</li><li>Exposure to a diverse range of commercial and architectural projects.</li><li>Opportunity to work with advanced lighting control and smart building technologies.</li><li>Supportive and collaborative team environment.</li><li>Clear opportunities for career progression within a growing business.</li></ul></ul><br>This role would suit a CAD Engineer, Electrical CAD Technician, Electrical Design Engineer, Building Services CAD Technician, or Lighting Controls Engineer looking to further develop their career within a specialist and expanding sector.<br><br>Apply today to learn more.
