<p>Role Overview:</p>
<p>The primary responsibility of a blood draw technician is to aid in executing various assigned tasks, problem solving, training, and providing suggestions to enhance workflow.</p>
<p>Job Duties:</p>
<p>Experience in performing blood extractions, tagging samples, spinning specimens, documenting maintenance information and decontamination, updating patient data, etc.</p>
<p>Procures and preserves samples following established protocols.</p>
<p>Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collections (e.g. urine or fecal) as needed</p>
<p>Demonstrates skills using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.</p>
<p>Completely comprehends all physician instructions.</p>
<p>Matches lab requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labels, spins, divides, and freezes specimens based on test orders.</p>
<p>Confirms all test requisitions or computer labels against script for accuracy.</p>
<p>Prepares specimens for shipping</p>
<p>Properly stores sample based on required temperature, places samples in suitable collection container/tube, accurately labels, follows specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity.</p>
<p>Understands and adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations.</p>
<p>Participates in annual departmental trainings</p>
<p>Responds to phone calls, reads lab results to address inquiries.</p>
<p>Basic Requirements:</p>
<p>Valid Phlebotomy certification for state employment requirements in certain states</p>
<p>At least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital environment</p>
<p>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite</p>
<p>High School Diploma or GED </p>
<p>At least 2 years of experience</p>
