Job Posting Title: Secondary Assistant Principal, Curriculum & Instruction Position Type: Professional / Unclassified Department: LSU System University Laboratory School (Rob Lyles (00004955)) Work Location: 0106 Lab High School Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: University Laboratory School Secondary Assistant Principal, Curriculum & Instruction Under the direction of the Associate Director & K-12 Principal, the Assistant Principal for Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for assisting in the instructional leadership, supervision of academic staff and implementing the school's curriculum and assessment plans. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing professional development, analyzing data to improve student learning outcomes and achievement, and ensuring curriculum alignment across all grade-levels, K-12. This position serves as a member of the school’s leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making and school-wide operations. Job Responsibilities 40% Academic Administration: Assist to provide leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the school’s curriculum and research-based instructional practices, in doing so, will work with the principal and academic staff to develop and implement innovative and contemporary curriculum; Through collaboration with senior leadership team, assist to create and maintain an environment of educational innovation through development, testing, and demonstration of new teaching methods; Assist principal to recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and support academic staff to ensure a positive and productive work environment; Assist principal to develop and manage the academic budget and resources to ensure financial stability and support academic programs and student services; Assist in developing and implementing the master schedule; Monitors new and changing laws and regulations affecting the school in the areas of curriculum and instruction and prepares new policies and/or revisions for the Director and ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations related to education; serves as a member of the school’s leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making and school-wide operations 40% Academic Support & Development: Observe instructional practices and classroom management of the academic staff, provide proper evaluation and feedback for improvement in student learning outcomes and achievement; Ensure a strong connection between professional development, classroom instruction, classroom management and student learning outcomes; Determine, organize, and/or facilitate professional development based on student performance; Work with Principal and Head of Educational Technology & Innovation to develop curriculum pedagogy that aligns with the school’s mission, vision and strategic plan; Assist in evaluating existing programs and practices, curriculum content, and programs; Supports and participates as a member of the academic ‘Cub Council’; Oversees department chairs and content area meetings to ensure effective and efficient planning periods and vertical alignment; Participate in professional development to keep current with research-based instructional strategies, curriculum leadership, and state and federal educational policies 10% Communication, Outreach, & Collaboration: Communicate effectively with parents, students, academic staff, and community stakeholders to build and maintain positive relationships; Conduct conferences with students, teachers, and parents regarding student assessment data to improve student learning outcomes and achievement; Work collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure that we continue to promote and encourage a ‘one-school’ culture; Assist principal in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with various LSU departments to ensure that ULS is utilized as a laboratory space for research and faculty on campus; Attend after-school, night and weekend activities 10% Other Duties: as assigned Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in education or related field Five (5) years teaching experience Must possess EDL certification and a valid teaching certificate.
