About the role:
justteachers are seeking a passionate and resilient full-time SEMH Teacher to join a specialist independent school in Oakham this September on a long-term basis. The school provides a nurturing and therapeutic learning environment for young people aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, ADHD, and associated learning difficulties.

Working within small class sizes and alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will deliver engaging lessons that support both academic progress and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes both learning and emotional wellbeing.
Develop and implement personalised learning strategies to support pupils with SEMH needs and associated challenges.
Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where required.
Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
Manage behaviour positively through restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
Contribute to EHCP reviews, target setting, and wider school development initiatives.
Maintain high expectations for attendance, achievement, behaviour, and personal development.
Build effective partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
Pre-requisites:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Experience teaching children or young people with SEMH needs, SEND, or challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice, autism, ADHD, and associated learning needs would be advantageous.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) required.
