About the Role
To be successful in this position applicant must: have great communication skills, be comfortable working with power tools and climbing ladders, be able to comfortably lift over 50 lbs, and have the skills to safely extract donations from homes and businesses. We are looking for someone who can give us at least a ONE YEAR commitment.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Reporting directly to the ReStore Donation/Deconstruction Manager and Deconstruction Supervisor, the Deconstruction Associate will perform a variety of tasks, mainly focused on Deconstruction. Working alongside and assisting skilled and unskilled volunteers with the extraction of usable items from homes and businesses that can be reused in the community. The Associate will also provide truck assistance for donation pick-ups and ReStore assistance when needed, including but not limited to commercial and residential pick-ups, jobsite appliance delivery, cashier, stocking, and minor maintenance on department trucks, drive forklift, box trucks, and flatbed truck.
KNOW HOW:
Committed to the mission of AAHH the incumbent should have experience and a working knowledge of home deconstruction, jobsite safety, building maintenance, property maintenance and the ability to interface successfully with people.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
With the direction of the Deconstruction Supervisor, the Associate will work alongside local Contractors and Volunteers, assisting a skilled team in the extraction of donations from homes and businesses, which includes removal of doors, cabinets, countertops, fixtures, lights, fans, etc.
Make sure Volunteers have an enjoyable service day during the process.
Assure that all work is performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the AAHH safety policy and so that the safety of AAHH customers, employees, volunteers and other third parties is of primary importance.
Assist with recruiting new volunteers for the AAHH Deconstruction Program.
Assist with driving, loading, and unloading trucks to and from jobsites.
Make necessary space on the ReStore sales floors for incoming projects and assist with set up and pricing of extracted items.
Organize Decon Team tools, keep inventory, and maintain proper charge on all power tools.
Perform other duties as assigned, including serving on a donation truck as needed.
Maintain a clean driving record.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be familiar with proper use of power tools, comfortable on a ladder, and able to lift 50+ pounds safely.
· Must have some experience around plumbing and electrical.
Ability to work with staff and volunteers towards the achievement of department and ReStore goals.
Ability to exhibit emotional intelligence, patience, and flexibility.
OSHA compliance and forklift training and experience preferred.
Current CPR and first aid experience a plus.
Experience driving large trucks or box trucks within busy city and county roads preferred.
