A thriving manufacturing / engineering company in Stockport is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join its established team.

This is a key role working as part of the wider QSHE team and you will be responsible for inspecting parts & materials that come into the business in the most effective way. You will also work with suppliers to proactively ensure quality issues are highlighted, resolved and prevented.

The role is based onsite Monday to Friday with flexible start & finish times. A usual workday will look like 7AM - 3PM or 9AM - 5PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect mechanical components and materials against engineering drawings and specifications - identifying and rectifying any issues of non-conformance
• Inspections within the workshop, supporting sub assembly team with quality inspection.
• Being the first point of contact to resolve quality issues, particularly on machined parts with the objective to keep customer returns down to minimum.
• Manage and complete rejection of components/ materials in accordance with company procedure.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding conformance issues, any damaged products or issues within the production process and implement solutions.
• Prep and carry out audit reports to ensure records are kept.
• Complete relevant SAP transactions.

Key Skills & Experience

• Demonstrable experience in a previous Quality Inspector role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong technical knowledge with an apprenticeship, HNC or degree in Mechanical Engineering and good ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to build and develop relationships with suppliers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience with product inspection plans.
• Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal, with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
