Experience
• Previous experience delivering hybrid infrastructure projects.
• Consulting or contractor background preferred (comfortable hitting the ground running).
• Comfortable teaching and upskilling more junior engineers
Technical Skills
•AWS expertise – The role’s biggest priority is building out the AWS low-side environment.
•Terraform – Essential for infrastructure as code.
•Ansible – Required and used alongside Terraform.
•DevOps experience – Strong hands on DevOps capability is crucial (GitLab experience is a bonus).
•Kubernetes – Preferable (used on the high-side on prem environment), but not essential.
•Strong coding skills – The person must be hands on, writing infrastructure code themselves.
Responsibilities
•Lead on setting up AWS infrastructure, including best practice for code, repositories, pipelines, etc.
•Work closely with the junior infrastructure engineer — coaching, upskilling, and providing templates or example code.
•Possibly support with high side on prem infrastructure, depending on whether it becomes operational again.
•Collaborate with some data engineers so knowledge isn’t isolated to one team member.
