Machine Operator in St. Pauls, NC
Job Summary Responsible for the set up and operation of various sheet metal machines such as shears,
saws, drills,
press brakes, punch presses, water jets, plasma tables, and other hand tools to
cut, bend, ream, punch and drill, or otherwise shape and form metal stock into components meeting specifications for production.
Duties and Responsibilities - Assembly a product according to dimensional, functional, and cosmetic specifications.
- Assembly number of products according to customer demand and process capacities.
- Participate in Daily Management reviews. The Operator will perform according to daily safety, quality, and production goals, fill proper daily management charts, and report results according to daily management standards.
- Daily report production problems to his or her supervisor and participate in root cause solutions of these problems.
- Train and coach new people according to Standard Operational Procedures
- articipate in kaizen/process improvements.
- Participate in department cycle counting and inventory control
- Record machine settings as a means to maintain proper control of a manufacturing process.
- Participate in preventive maintenance activities of his/her equipment.
- Participate in equipment changeovers.
- Adhere to all company policies as stated in Company Handbook.
- Scrap evaluation is based on first pass yield; operators must use problem solving skills to determine root cause and corrective actions for process improvements in scrap reduction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications - High School degree or equivalent.
- Good communication skills

- 1+ years of experience as a machine operator
- Basic knowledge and understanding of machine operations, practices and processes.
- Must be able to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
- Must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination to make precise bends and cuts.
- Ability to follow directions both written and verbal.
- Must be able to work to a blueprint and hold close dimensions on finished parts.
- Good oral and written and communication skills.
- Requires precise calculations and accurate blueprint understanding to perform proper sequencing.
- Must have the ability to stand at a machine for extended periods.
- Constantly involves walking, grasping, leaning, pushing and pulling, bending and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Occasionally involves sitting, fine manipulation, reaching above and below shoulder level and carrying up to 15 lbs.
- Involves driving a forklift, operating a crane, working around equipment and machinery, requires the utilization of personal protective equipment.
