Teaching Assistant Level 3 - Newark

About the role:

justteachers are recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant Level 3 to start in September at a specialist educational provision in Newark (NG24) supporting pupils aged 5-19 with autism and additional learning needs.

This specialist setting is dedicated to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally. The school offers highly personalised learning opportunities and works closely with families and professionals to ensure every learner is able to achieve their full potential.

As a TA3, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working alongside teachers, therapists and wider support staff, you will deliver targeted interventions, provide one-to-one and small-group support, and help pupils overcome barriers to learning. You will be expected to use your experience and initiative to support curriculum delivery whilst promoting independence, communication skills and emotional wellbeing.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant looking to further develop their skills within a specialist SEND environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality support for pupils both in and outside the classroom.
Deliver planned interventions and learning activities under teacher direction.
Support pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
Assist in the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised support plans.
Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Support pupils with communication, social and independence skills.
Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Liaise effectively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to support pupil outcomes.

Pre-requisites:

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a school setting.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly autism, is desirable.
TA3 qualification or equivalent teaching assistant experience preferred.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to provide two professional references covering the last two years of employment, education or training.
