Job Responsibilities At our Denver facility, we are looking for a night shift welder who will be reading and interpreting design blueprints. Preparing fabrication and welding for various metal components and structures. CF&I Recycling is committed to maintaining and promoting a safe, healthy and injury-free environment. It is required for all jobs. Receives instructions, drawings, and work orders for assigned jobs. Interprets drawings and sketches and plans work procedures, tools, and material requirements. Selects materials appropriate for each job. Lays out work, prepares sketches, and determines required stock sizes. Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded as required. Sets up, assembles, and tack-welds parts, constructing special fixtures as needed. Performs gas and electric welding in all positions (downhand, vertical, overhead, etc.). Builds up worn or defective parts. Cleans, grinds, and flame-anneals parts and welded joints as required. Uses cutting and burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut materials to size and shape. Exercises all safety precautions and ensures proper handling of materials and equipment to and from job sites. Works in both shop and field environments. Performs work requiring a working knowledge of welding properties of various metals, welding rods, heat inputs, stress relief, fit-up and machining allowances, and the effects of shrinkage, warpage, and expansion. Performs other duties as assigned by Lead or Management. Requirements Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. 1–3 years of experience working on shredders is considered an asset. 3–5 years of experience in the metal/non-metal mining industry is considered an asset. 3–5 years of welding experience (D1.1) Work experience as a metal fabricator or in a similar role. Professional certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) Proficiency in SMAW (stick welding), GMAW (MIG welding), and carbon air arc gouging. Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment exposed to heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, coal, and noise. Safety-conscious and safety-oriented. Occasional additional hours, including weekends, may be required depending on operational needs.
