About the Role

Finance Associate (Housing & Transition Finance)

Location: Leeds

Salary: £65,000 to £80,000 + bonus and benefits

Experience: 1+ years’ PQE

Our client is continuing to grow and is looking to recruit a strong finance lawyer at Associate level to support its Housing and Transition Finance Group in Leeds.

This is a standout opportunity for an ambitious lawyer who wants to take the next step by joining a well-established, thriving team known for high-quality work in social housing finance and the wider transition finance space.

The Housing and Transition Finance Group is widely regarded as a market leader in the social housing sector.

The team advises a diverse client base including housing associations, registered providers, funders and investors on high-value, complex transactions. Matters include bond issues, private placements, syndicated and bilateral loans, sustainability-linked financing, and other innovative funding structures tailored to the sector.

Alongside core finance transactions, the team also supports finance clients on wholesale financing, product development, and government and regulatory engagement in response to policy shifts across these areas.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Complex social housing finance transactions across the UK
  • Education and healthcare financings
  • Impact finance transactions, including structures that combine debt and equity
  • Transition finance work across a broad range of asset classes, including:
  • Digital infrastructure and data centres
  • Renewables and clean(er) energy
  • Large-scale real estate retrofit
  • Industrial platforms and decarbonisation
  • Circular economy assets
  • Natural capital
  • Sustainable and synthetic fuel sources
  • Agri-tech and climate-resilient food systems
  • Water security infrastructure
  • Flood defence and coastal resilience systems

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
  • 1+ years’ PQE with finance experience and a solid understanding of transaction fundamentals
  • Proactive, organised and confident managing competing deadlines
  • Collaborative working style and a client-focused approach

Desirable

  • Familiarity with LMA-style documentation (with the confidence to adapt rather than rely on precedents)
  • Interest in building a market profile and developing your network

What’s On Offer

  • Salary of £65,000 to £80,000 + bonus and benefits
  • High calibre work at the heart of solving the UK’s housing challenge
  • Exposure to innovative transition finance matters with a genuinely broad asset-class mix
  • A supportive, collegiate culture where ambitious lawyers are encouraged to succeed
  • Strong development support, including structured training, mentoring, coaching and leadership development
  • A genuinely inclusive environment with active employee networks and space for people to bring their whole selves to work
  • Clear progression opportunities as the team continues to grow
