Role Overview
 
The organisation is seeking a motivated and experienced IT Technician to provide hands-on technical support across a portfolio of clients in Swindon, with one visit to Chippenham approximately once a fortnight.
This is a field-based role requiring someone who is comfortable working independently across multiple sites, engaging confidently with staff, and managing a varied and dynamic workload. The role is ideal for someone with 2 to 3 years of IT support experience who is looking to build their career in an public-sector environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site IT support for staff across multiple sites
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network systems
  • Support staff with day-to-day technical issues and promote IT best practices
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection, and security standards
  • Maintain accurate records of IT issues, resolutions, and equipment inventory
  • Travel between sites as required, managing your own schedule effectively
Essential Skills & Experience
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in an IT support role
  • Experience in a public sector setting (desirable)
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Office 365, and common hardware
  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
  • A full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting)
Desirable Skills
  • Experience supporting multi-site environments
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and data protection
