Data Engineer

Edison Smart is partnering with a growing technology business in the UAE to hire a Data Engineer.

You’ll join a technical team responsible for building scalable data infrastructure supporting analytics, machine learning and data-driven products.

The role will suit someone with strong cloud data engineering experience who enjoys building reliable, high-performance pipelines and modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable ETL and ELT pipelines across cloud-based data environments.

• Develop and maintain modern data lake and warehouse architectures.

• Build data infrastructure supporting both real-time and batch processing.

• Develop robust data models and transformation frameworks.

• Work closely with machine learning and analytics teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready datasets.

• Implement data quality, validation and governance processes.

• Optimise pipelines and data workloads for performance and scalability.

• Build automated processes to improve reliability and reduce manual intervention.

• Support monitoring, troubleshooting and recovery across production data pipelines.

• Take ownership of data infrastructure throughout its lifecycle.

Technical Experience

• Strong data engineering experience within Azure or comparable cloud environments.

• Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark and Delta Lake.

• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Strong understanding of modern data lake and data warehouse architectures.

• Experience with Snowflake, Synapse or comparable data platforms.

• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Event Hubs or Spark Streaming.

• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimisation and performance tuning.

• Experience with data versioning, governance and quality frameworks.

• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar technologies.

• Strong understanding of scalable and distributed data processing.

What We're Looking For

You’ll be a hands-on data engineer who cares about reliability, automation and data quality. You should be comfortable taking ownership of production pipelines, solving complex data problems and building infrastructure that can scale alongside a growing technology platform.

Experience within financial technology, financial services, high-volume transactional platforms or other data-intensive environments would be advantageous.
