D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Systems Engineer II. The right candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. Participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with business needs. The Systems Engineer II actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within DR Horton Inc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Serves as subject matter expert for any current/new technology or application implementation within the organization
Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
Implement automation of task leveraging PowerShell
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to management and internal customers
Work with cross-functional project teams to implement highly available solutions
Ability to travel overnight
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Seven to ten years of server administration experience
Strong knowledge of server operating systems
Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell
Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V or equivalent
Experience with designing and building Hyper V virtualization environments and Terminal server farms
Strong PowerShell scripting experience
Experience working on Linux based infrastructure
Previous experience providing system administration in an IT environment
Working knowledge of networking protocols and components including TCP/IP and DNS
Experience designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
Experience working on a matrix team consisting of a variety of Operation groups, as well as Development groups
Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team requiring little supervision
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
