About the Role

Repair Fault Finding EngineerCambridge£30,000 - £42,000 Are you the kind of person who enjoys getting to the root of a fault rather than just following a standard process? This is a great opportunity to join a growing business within a busy repairs environment, where your electronics fault-finding skills will genuinely make an impact. You will be working on technically interesting products used by customers across a range of critical industries, supporting complex repairs, advanced diagnostics and helping the wider team continue to improve how faults are identified, resolved and documented. This is not just a standard repair role. You will be looking at complex, intermittent and non-standard faults, working closely with engineering, quality and operations teams, and helping to feed technical insight back into the wider business. It would suit someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working hands-on with electronics and being trusted as a technical point of contact within a repairs environment. What you will be doing: Fault finding and repairing customer returns down to component and system levelUsing schematics, circuit diagrams and test equipment to diagnose complex issuesInvestigating intermittent, unusual or non-standard faultsValidating repairs through appropriate testing and verificationSupporting root cause analysis and reliability improvement activitiesHelping to improve repair processes, procedures and diagnostic methodsSupporting the setup and optimisation of specialist repair equipmentSharing knowledge with the wider team and supporting more junior techniciansMaintaining accurate repair records, technical documentation and fault dataWorking cross-functionally with engineering, quality and operations teams What do we need from you: You will need strong hands-on electronics fault-finding experience, ideally gained within a repair, service, production or technical support environment. You should be confident working to component level and comfortable using diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers and multimeters. You will also need:The ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentationA structured and analytical approach to fault findingExperience diagnosing complex or intermittent faultsStrong attention to detailThe confidence to suggest improvements to repair methods and processesGood communication skills and the ability to support others technically Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:BGA rework or advanced PCB repairSpecialist repair equipment setup or procurementERP or repair tracking systemsFeeding repair findings back into engineering or design teams Due to the nature of the work, candidates will need to be eligible for UK SC clearance. What can you expect in return: Salary £30,000 - £42,000, dependent on experienceFlexible working hours (fully on site role)Pension, dental care and healthcareSupport of staff wellbeingDiscounted gym membershipSubsidised Hub on site restaurantLarge, free car parking on site and electric car charging pointsSocial events and activities If this sounds like the kind of role that would give you the technical depth, variety and ownership you are looking for, I would be happy to share more details.
