The Regional Safety Coordinator is critical to the organization and management of safety initiatives, tool costs, tool usage, and safety policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead incident investigations for all near-misses, first aids, and recordable injuries, ensuring timely documentation and corrective actions are implemented.
• Develop and enforce a near-miss reporting program to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards before incidents occur.
• Conduct daily or periodic site walk-throughs to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions and ensure immediate corrective action.
• Collaborate with project teams during pre-construction to integrate safety planning into project schedules, logistics, and sequencing.
• Review subcontractor safety programs and verify compliance with company and regulatory standards prior to site mobilization.
• Facilitate and document weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings, ensuring topics are relevant to current jobsite conditions.
• Maintain and regularly update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) or Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for all critical work activities.
• Ensure proper use, inspection, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) across all jobsites.
• Monitor and enforce fall protection, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and other high-risk safety programs.
• Establish and manage emergency response drills (fire, severe weather, medical emergencies) to ensure team readiness.
• Track and analyze safety metrics (TRIR, DART, EMR) and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
• Partner with leadership to foster a strong safety culture and promote accountability at all organizational levels.
• Conduct safety orientation for subcontractors and visitors prior to site access.
• Ensure compliance with environmental safety standards including hazardous material handling, waste disposal, and spill prevention.
• Manage and maintain safety documentation, logs, and compliance records for audits and inspections.
• Stay current with changes in OSHA regulations and industry best practices, implementing updates as needed.
• Assist in return-to-work and modified duty programs following workplace injuries.
• Coordinate third-party safety inspections and insurance audits as required.
• Support bid and proposal efforts by contributing safety plans and past performance metrics.
QUALIFICATIONS
· 2 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
· Excellent knowledge of legislations and procedures
· Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
· Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
· Proficient in MS Office
· Outstanding organizational skills
· Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
· Good time-management skills
· Certificate in occupational health and safety (OSHA 30, STSC)
· Clear, effective communications skills – both written and verbal
· Ability to assertively and effectively negotiate and resolve interpersonal issues
· Preference for accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
· Proficient in using basic office equipment
· Mechanical and tool usage and knowledge required
