COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• $90,000 – $105,000 annually

• Full-time; flexible schedule including occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

ROLE IMPACT

The Tax Supervisor ensures accurate, timely filing and payment of federal, state, and local tax obligations for a high-volume, multi-state payroll and fiscal operation. This role leads daily tax compliance activities, supports payroll operations, and drives process improvements that reduce risk, prevent penalties, and strengthen regulatory compliance. Success is measured by accuracy, deadline adherence, team performance, and continuous improvement of tax processes.

• Supervise and develop a team of Tax Specialists, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, workload balancing, and goal setting

• Oversee preparation and filing of original and amended federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, ensuring timely payments and compliance

• Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for multi-state payroll tax processing and domestic transaction tax compliance

• Research tax regulations and develop processes to support expansion into new states or local jurisdictions

• Proactively prevent penalties and non-filing notices through deadline management and quality controls

• Minimum 3 years of experience in multi-state payroll tax processing

• Prior supervisory experience leading or mentoring a tax or payroll team

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word with strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Payroll and tax processing systems

• Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, data analysis) and Word

• Multi-state e-file and payment platforms

• Standard office equipment including multi-screen computer setup, scanner, copier, and calculator

Preferred Skills

• Experience improving tax compliance workflows and leveraging automation tools

• Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills to resolve filing discrepancies

• Ability to train and present tax processes to internal teams and stakeholders
