Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Downham Market that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their Specialist Resource Base (SRB) on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. The successful candidate will provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil within the Specialist Resource Base, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their academic, social, emotional, and communication goals within a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil within the Specialist Resource Base, ensuring they can fully access learning opportunities.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning and support plans.
- Support the pupil’s academic progress while encouraging the development of communication, social, emotional, and independence skills.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent routines, encouragement, and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil, helping to develop confidence and self-esteem.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, parents/carers, and external professionals to provide consistent support.
- Monitor, record, and report on the pupil’s progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Support the pupil during breaktimes, educational visits, and wider school activities where appropriate.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
- Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing an inclusive education for every child.
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly within a primary school or specialist setting, is desirable.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language needs, communication difficulties, or learning needs would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring, flexible, and resilient approach to supporting children.
- The ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a wider school team.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- A commitment to helping every child achieve their full potential.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- Two recent education-based references.
