What it's like
- You'll complete inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs on the district's fleet of 750+ yellow buses and other vehicles.
- We'll rely on you to rebuild and replace mechanical and electrical components on diesel buses, trucks and other equipment.
- Depending on position, you may also complete reports and provide guidance, support and supervision to your colleagues.
- You'll work in our bus garage in Raleigh and across our nearly 200 school campuses.
What it takes
- High school diploma or GED

At least two years of experience* working with and repairing medium-to-heavy diesel equipment (relevant education or ASE certifications may be substituted for prior experience).
*Higher level mechanic positions may require additional years of experience and certifications
- North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License with School Bus (S and P) endorsements.
- Successful completion of NCDPI Bus Inspector Training and certification is required within six months of hire.
- Master Mechanics must complete OSHA Safety Training within 12 months of hire.
