Position Overview
The Practice Manager, Corporate partners with Section, Practice, and Division leadership to optimize operations, professional development, and strategic initiatives across the Corporate Section and other Sections as needed. This role serves as the primary liaison for operational collaboration with administrative departments, ensuring smooth workflows, data-informed decision-making, and consistent adherence to firm policies and best practices. The ideal candidate is a proactive, highly collaborative leader with demonstrated experience in practice management, professional development, human resources, and operational strategy, capable of building relationships at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Section Administration & Operations -
Collaborate with Senior Practice Manager and Section Managers to manage Section budgets, operational planning, and strategic initiatives.

Facilitate Section meetings, prepare agendas, and contribute to content creation for internal communications.

Plan and coordinate Section events to promote team cohesion, recognition, and engagement.

Support implementation of Section-specific operational programs and workflow process improvements.
Work Allocation & Process Optimization -
Oversee allocation of assignments for Associates and off-track attorneys to optimize attorney utilization and development.

Analyze reporting metrics to monitor workload distribution and identify process improvement opportunities.

Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Business Intelligence & Analytics -
Partner with Finance to generate financial and operational reports, providing actionable insights for Section and Firm leadership.

Collaborate with relevant teams to analyze trends in talent management, knowledge management, and performance metrics, supporting data-driven decision-making.

Work with the Innovation team to advance knowledge management initiatives.
Professional Development & Performance Management -
Serve as a resource and mentor for Associates on day-to-day operational and professional matters.

Conduct recurring check-ins and facilitate performance management activities, including mid-year reviews and year-end evaluations.

Partner with Attorney Development to design and implement training programs, mentoring initiatives, and external professional development opportunities.

Advise Associates on career planning, skill development, and succession opportunities.
Recruiting & Human Resources -
Assess attorney hiring needs and collaborate with Recruiting to streamline talent acquisition, onboarding, and integration.

Support management of attorney lifecycle events, including leaves of absence, on/off-ramping, and separations.

Ensure smooth orientation and transition processes for new hires, contributing to retention and engagement.
Team Leadership & Collaboration -
Work with Practice Management peers and senior leadership to develop and implement best-in-class operational practices, tools, and processes across the firm.

Mentor and supervise Practice Coordinators and Specialists, supporting team performance, professional growth, and workload management.
Miscellaneous -
Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Maintain a balance of on-site presence and remote work to support operational needs and team engagement.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required;J.D. Preferred.

5+ years in a large law firm, including experience in practice management, professional development, HR, or operations leadership.

Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, interpret, and present data to inform decision-making.

Proficiency in project management, workflow optimization, and strategic planning.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and cross-functional teams.

Experience in performance management, employee relations, and professional development programs.

Deep understanding of law firm economics, budget management, and operational strategy.

High integrity, discretion, diplomacy, and ability to handle confidential information.

Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
