Overview
We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee the technical direction, design oversight, and operational performance of mission-critical data center infrastructure.
The Director of Data Center Engineering will lead a team of engineers across mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure disciplines and serve as the primary engineering authority for data center systems and technical standards. This role will ensure facilities are designed, deployed, and operated to support high-density compute environments while maintaining the highest levels of reliability, efficiency, and resiliency.
This position focuses on engineering leadership, technical oversight, and team management. The role operates in a hybrid capacity but requires regular collaboration with engineering teams, operational sites, and project partners to ensure infrastructure initiatives are delivered successfully.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
•Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure engineers
•Provide technical guidance and engineering oversight across data center infrastructure initiatives
•Establish engineering standards, design documentation practices, and technical best practices
•Support engineering teams through design reviews, technical problem solving, and infrastructure decision-making
Infrastructure Engineering Oversight
•Oversee the engineering design and technical implementation of data center infrastructure systems
•Ensure facilities are engineered to support high-density compute environments and mission-critical operations
•Guide engineering decisions related to electrical systems, power distribution, cooling infrastructure, and thermal management
•Ensure infrastructure designs support reliability, scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency
Design, Construction & Commissioning Support
•Provide engineering oversight throughout design development, construction, and commissioning activities
•Partner with project teams, contractors, and engineering consultants to ensure infrastructure systems meet technical standards
•Review engineering designs, technical specifications, and commissioning documentation
•Support troubleshooting, system validation, and root cause analysis for infrastructure issues
Vendor & Technical Partner Collaboration
•Work closely with engineering consultants, OEM equipment vendors, and construction partners
•Provide technical input during vendor evaluations and infrastructure solution selection
•Ensure engineering deliverables and equipment specifications align with operational and performance requirements
Governance & Compliance
•Develop and maintain engineering policies, procedures, and technical documentation standards
•Support quality assurance and commissioning validation processes
•Ensure infrastructure systems comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
•10+ years of experience in mission-critical data center engineering, infrastructure design, or operations environments
•Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams within complex technical organizations
•Strong understanding of data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems
•Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
•Experience supporting large-scale data center environments
•Familiarity with high-density compute infrastructure and advanced cooling strategies
•Understanding of power distribution, cooling architecture, and facility resiliency within mission-critical environments
