Commercial Cost Analyst
Gloucestershire – Permanent – Full-time – Days
We’re supporting a specialist engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality engineered products into critical industrial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Commercial Cost Analyst to strengthen their commercial and tendering function.
Working closely with the Tender Manager and cross-functional teams, you’ll play a key role in developing accurate cost models, supporting pricing decisions and ensuring commercially robust tender submissions. This is an internally focused position suited to someone with experience in costing, pricing, tendering or commercial analysis within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
The Role:
- Develop and maintain cost models and pricing structures to support tenders and sales opportunities
- Support costing, pricing and margin analysis across bids and commercial proposals
- Review cost assumptions, pricing logic and commercial inputs for accuracy and consistency
- Obtain supplier quotations for materials, components and services
- Evaluate supplier pricing and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Support procurement strategy development for tender submissions
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance and Sales to develop accurate costing assumptions
- Maintain historical pricing data and analyse commercial performance
- Support pricing strategies, discount structures and margin improvement initiatives
- Ensure accurate documentation of cost calculations and commercial approvals
- Maintain CRM data and commercial reporting information
- Support continuous improvement of costing tools, templates and commercial processes
- Ensure compliance with internal commercial governance and company procedures
The Person:
- Degree qualified, or equivalent experience, in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics or a related discipline
- Previous experience within costing, pricing, tendering, estimating or commercial analysis
- Strong understanding of cost modelling, pricing structures and margin analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience working with complex spreadsheets
- Experience using CRM systems and commercial databases
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering or engineered-to-order environments
- Able to work collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain and Finance teams
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable managing commercially sensitive information
