Group Central Finance is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely and efficient accounting for actuals and works closely with both the Finance Operations teams and the business partnering teams. maintaining strong financial control, accurate accounting and robust reporting across Dunelm. Within this, the Inventory Accounting team has responsibility for inventory and manufacturing accounting across the Group, working closely with commercial teams and manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing Accountant is responsible for the accurate accounting and financial control of Dunelm’s manufacturing operations for Made to Measure blinds, curtains and shutters. The role ensures inventory and manufacturing costs are correctly recorded, valued and reported across multiple systems, supporting internal reporting. Working closely with manufacturing teams and finance colleagues, the role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting operational understanding of costs and performance. The successful candidate will also work with teams outside of Finance to influence and shape changes to systems to improve the quality of manufacturing accounting at source. What you'll be doing Account for manufacturing operations across Dunelm’s Made to Measure sites, including blinds, curtains and shutters Ensure accurate accounting for inventory, work in progress and cost of production Maintain and reconcile manufacturing and inventory balances within SAP and IFS systems Own month‑end processes relating to manufacturing costs and inventory, ensuring timely and accurate close Investigate and resolve variances between expected and actual manufacturing costs Support standard costing, cost updates and review of cost assumptions Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to understand cost drivers and support process improvements Support internal and external audit requirements, providing clear explanations and supporting documentation Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and relevant accounting standards Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing accounting processes and controls What we'll look for in you Strong technical accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or inventory‑heavy environment Solid understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory and standard costing Experience of working with ERP systems, particularly SAP and/or IFS High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills Ability to investigate issues, analyse variances and resolve discrepancies Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting matters to non‑finance stakeholders Desirable Experience in retail or made‑to‑measure manufacturing environments Exposure to multi‑site manufacturing operations Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Behaviours we look for: Detail‑focused and quality‑driven Accountable and dependable Collaborative and approachable Calm and resilient under time pressure Curious and improvement‑focused
