Night Transport Operator

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced and organised Night Transport Operator to join our busy transport team in Felixstowe. Working within a fast-paced container haulage operation, you will be responsible for the efficient planning and coordination of vehicle movements, ensuring customer requirements are met while maintaining compliance with transport legislation and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Planning and coordinating night-time container transport operations
Monitoring vehicle movements and driver progress throughout the shift
Liaising with drivers, customers, ports, depots, and warehouses
Responding to operational issues and implementing effective solutions
Ensuring deliveries and collections are completed on schedule
Managing driver hours and Working Time Directive compliance
Updating transport management systems accurately
Handling customer queries and providing regular status updates
Supporting the day operations team with thorough shift handovers

Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience within transport operations, container haulage, or logistics
Good knowledge of UK driver hours regulations and transport compliance
Experience of planning vehicles and allocating work efficiently
Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Competent IT skills and experience using transport management systems
Knowledge of Felixstowe Port operations would be advantageous
