The ideal candidate will serve as a 5th Grade Homeroom Teacher and teach: ● Two sections of 5th Grade Math ● Two sections of 5th Grade Social Studies ● Two sections of 5th Grade Science This role requires a passionate educator who is committed to fostering academic growth, faith formation, and independence as students transition into upper elementary and middle-level expectations. Key Responsibilities: Spiritual Leadership and Catholic Identity: Foster a Christ-Centered Environment: Create a classroom atmosphere where students encounter the love of Christ through daily prayer, the use of sacred space/prayer corners, and the integration of the liturgical seasons. Faith Formation: Lead students in daily morning and mealtime prayers, and guide them in the development of a personal relationship with God. Virtue-Based Management: Model and teach the theological and cardinal virtues (faith, hope, charity, justice, fortitude, temperance, and prudence) as the basis for social-emotional growth and classroom discipline. Ministry of Presence: Actively participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and the spiritual life of the faculty, serving as a visible witness of the Catholic faith to students and families. Instruction and Curriculum: Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in Math, Social Studies, and Science using research-based practices and a variety of instructional strategies. Design and implement dynamic lessons that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world connections. Utilize data to differentiate instruction and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments. Support the development of strong foundational skills while preparing students for the rigor of middle school. Integrate Catholic values and principles into daily instruction and classroom culture. Classroom Leadership: Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student learning and personal growth. Demonstrate effective classroom management skills grounded in consistency, fairness, and a growth mindset. Foster student responsibility, organization, and independence appropriate for upper elementary learners. Communication and Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for 5th grade homeroom students and their families, building positive and supportive community relationships. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and classroom updates. Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and support staff to plan instruction, address student needs, and ensure a cohesive educational experience. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives. Partner with the learning support team to identify early intervention needs and adapt instruction accordingly. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field required Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Elementary Education (K-6) or Middle Years (4-8) strongly preferred Experience teaching upper elementary grades preferred Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills Clearances will be required as well as other documentation if the position is offered.
