About the Role

Connections Contract Manager Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Connections Contract Managers to join a leading organisation responsible for managing customer connections to the UK's high-voltage electricity network. You'll play a key role in supporting the transition to a low-carbon energy system, working with customers delivering renewable generation, battery storage and other major infrastructure projects.

This position sits within a customer-facing connections team, managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from initial enquiry through to energisation. You'll collaborate with customers, internal teams and industry stakeholders to deliver successful connection outcomes while balancing contractual obligations, risk and programme delivery.

Hybrid working is available, with a base in the Midlands and occasional travel to other UK offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key industry stakeholders.
  • Manage commercial and contractual aspects of customer connection projects throughout the full lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risk while delivering positive outcomes for customers and the business.
  • Handle contractual queries, issues and complaints relating to electricity network connections.
  • Coordinate with technical, legal and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Balance competing stakeholder priorities across multiple complex projects.
  • Senior-level roles will also provide leadership, mentor colleagues and represent the business in internal and external forums.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in contract or commercial management.
  • Experience managing multiple customer queries and escalations within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive outcomes.
  • Knowledge of regulated industries, ideally within utilities, energy or infrastructure.
  • Understanding of industry governance and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Grid Code, CUSC, STC or equivalent).
  • Awareness of the challenges associated with delivering the UK's net zero ambitions.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Broad understanding of technology platforms and delivery processes.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience).
  • Performance-related bonus.
  • Generous pension and annual leave.
  • Flexible and hybrid working.
  • Excellent career development within a growing, nationally significant infrastructure programme.
