ABOUT THE ROLE Our Client is seeking a Vice President of AI Platform & Engineering to lead the architecture, engineering organization, AI governance, and technology execution required to build a category-defining Connected Intelligence platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this executive will serve as both a strategic leader and hands-on technical partner, translating the company's innovation roadmap into scalable, enterprise-grade technology solutions. The ideal candidate is a player-coach who is equally comfortable guiding engineering strategy, mentoring high-performing teams, collaborating with executive leadership, and engaging directly in technical decision-making when necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the overall engineering strategy, architecture, and execution for the company's AI-powered Connected Intelligence platform. Build and scale a world-class engineering organization focused on innovation, quality, execution, and operational excellence. Drive the company's transition from individual products to a scalable enterprise platform. Own technology architecture, engineering governance, and AI governance across the organization. Partner closely with executive leadership to execute the innovation roadmap and technology strategy. Translate complex technical initiatives into clear business language for executives, customers, and the Board of Directors. Lead development across artificial intelligence, cloud software, platform engineering, and enterprise architecture. Oversee engineering initiatives supporting machine learning, computer vision, generative AI, time-series analytics, and MLOps. Guide development of cloud-native SaaS applications, APIs, data platforms, DevOps practices, cybersecurity initiatives, and scalable software architecture. Lead engineering efforts supporting Industrial IoT, edge computing, sensor integration, firmware, and device management. Provide solution architecture leadership and technical governance supporting strategic Build versus Buy decisions. Execute engineering priorities that support the organization's sensor product roadmap. Provide leadership and oversight of outsourced enterprise IT services, including infrastructure, help desk, and vendor management. Partner with business stakeholders supporting enterprise systems including CRM and ERP without assuming day-to-day platform administration responsibilities. Represent Engineering with customers, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors. Develop engineering talent through coaching, mentorship, and organizational leadership. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Strategy, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams. QUALIFICATIONS Proven executive leadership experience leading engineering organizations within AI, cloud software, SaaS, or enterprise technology environments. Extensive experience designing and delivering scalable AI-driven platforms. Strong expertise in platform engineering, enterprise software architecture, cloud-native technologies, APIs, DevOps, data platforms, and cybersecurity. Experience with machine learning, computer vision, generative AI, time-series analytics, and MLOps. Knowledge of Industrial IoT, embedded systems, sensor technologies, edge computing, firmware, and connected devices. Strong architectural thinking with the ability to balance long-term strategy and near-term execution. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive, commercial, and customer audiences. Experience building, mentoring, and leading high-performing engineering teams. Strong executive presence, emotional intelligence, and cross-functional leadership skills. Customer-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness. Ability to operate effectively as both a strategic executive and hands-on technical leader. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience leading digital transformation initiatives. Experience modernizing enterprise software platforms. Experience presenting technology strategy and platform direction to executive leadership and Boards of Directors. Experience supporting enterprise-scale AI governance initiatives. REPORTING STRUCTURE Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Partners closely with the Vice President of Strategy and Product. Works collaboratively with executive leadership, commercial teams, customers, and the Board of Directors.
