About the Role
On behalf of Defra, we are looking for a Assistant Business Case Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract which is a hybrid role so does require up to 3 days a week in the nearest Defra hub - Birmingham, Bristol, London, Newcastle, Reading and York

Support EUDP’s projects in their development of project-level business cases: Develop in-programme guidance and provide subject matter expertise on project level business cases. Upskill EUDP Project Leads on business case development requirements, processes, milestones and planning.
As a Assistant Business Case Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
Ensure project adherence to the EUDP Approvals process through regular tracking and review of progress against milestones.
Ensure guidance on the EUDP Approvals process is updated, distributed and available to reflect any changes and accessible to Project Leads.
Provide review and assessment assistance to business cases as the project produce documentation.
Support the Business Case Lead in the development of the EUDP Programme Business Case: Track progress on relevant documentation and liaise with case leads to ensure timely completion. Organise clearance slots with senior colleagues as required.
Quality Assure documentation prior to submission milestones and monitor version control. Contribute to Project Stage Gate Reviews Track submission of project business case documentation as part of the Stage Gate Review process, liaising with projects to ensure accuracy. Deputise as required for the Business Case Manager on Stage Gate Review meetings, reviewing documentation and providing feedback to projects.
Owner of the EUDP Programme-level Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA): Ensure the document is updated alongside the development of the PBC iterations.
Work with analysts to strengthen the programmes understanding of its Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) impacts.
Essential Skills
Programme level business case experience ideally within a busy central government department
Project level experience of business cases
Experience across a busy overall portfolio of work
Stakeholder engagement at all levels
Equally assessments experience within the business case development and process
Strong self starter with a proactive approach to all duties
Desirable Skills
GMPP programme experience would be highly beneficial
Public sector government experience would be highly beneficial
