About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SGO Assessment Social Worker to join our dynamic team in Stockport. This role is pivotal in ensuring that children in need receive the support and protection they deserve. As an SGO Assessment Social Worker, you will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments, providing guidance to families, and facilitating Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs) that promote the welfare of children in our care.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments for prospective special guardians, ensuring that all relevant information is gathered and analyzed.
Working collaboratively with families, children, and other professionals to develop and implement effective support plans.
Providing ongoing support and supervision to special guardians, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in compliance with local authority policies and procedures.
Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to the development of best practices in child welfare.
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work).
Current registration with Social Work England.
Significant experience in child protection and family support settings.
Strong assessment and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of child development and welfare legislation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
