About the Role

Opportunity to use your in-depth knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research to investigate thematic and systemic issues identified through our casework. The Housing Ombudsman Service provides independent, impartial and fair dispute support and resolution services for nearly 5 million households in England. The Insight and Systemic Officer role sits within the Insight and Development function of the Housing Ombudsman Service.  The Insight and Development function uses casework data analysis, systemic and thematic investigations, research and sector engagement activity to improve housing service provision including through the Centre for Learning. As the Insight and Systemic Officer, you will work closely with colleagues in the Insight and Development function and across the organisation. You will draw on a full range of evidence, including qualitative and quantitative research and operational information, to generate meaningful insights that contribute to the Ombudsman’s decision-making. This will include working collaboratively on landlord interventions, including designing the methodology for a range of research projects. Specifically, your role will include: analysis of multiple datasets and intelligence sources to provide briefings on themes and/or individual landlords; Writing case studies for inclusion in external publications; Supporting the planning and delivery of thematic research investigations; Assisting with the development of content for the Centre for Learning; and Supporting the work of the Policy and Parliamentary team, and using their insight to inform the Insight and Development team’s work As part of your highly developed research skills, you’ll offer strong data analysis and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesise and draw key insights from a variety of data sets and evidence sources. Ideally, this will include experience in supporting analysis in complex investigations to identify systemic issues. You’ll require excellent written and oral communication skills, with your track record demonstrating your ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and external agencies, in addition to your ability to deal with difficult conversations and situations.
