Public consultation into cemeteries.
A public consultation into cemeteries across the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) Borough will be held from Monday 16 March until Monday 13 April, 2026.
The four-week public engagement will feature an online survey, as well as an in-person drop-in session to be held at the Brownlow Hub in Lurgan on Wednesday 18 March from 4pm-6pm.
ABC Council operates 15 cemeteries across the Borough and demand for Council cemetery plots is expected to increase as the population continues to rise, while some church burial grounds run out of space.
A spokesperson for ABC Council said: “In 2025, we developed a draft Cemetery Strategy for the Borough, and we want to hear your views and feedback on the proposed Strategy.
“As residents of the Borough and users of services, we welcome your feedback regarding our proposed Draft Cemetery Strategy. Please tell us your views by completing the questionnaire on the ABC Council website – https://armaghbanbridgecraigavon.citizenspace.com/
“Your feedback will be part of a report with many other people’s feedback, so you will not be personally identified.”
The consultation will give people the opportunity to have their say on the Draft Cemetery Strategy covering a range of issues including the provision of a crematorium within the Borough, accessibility at cemeteries, services for the diverse range of faiths, and general feedback on the Cemetery Strategy and Council’s Bereavement Service.
