Position Overview:

Pope John Paul II Regional Catholic Elementary School, a vibrant and dedicated Catholic elementary school, is seeking a joyful, nurturing, and collaborative full-time Pre-K 4 Teacher for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will foster a safe, faith-filled, and stimulating environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth of four-year-old children. As a Pre-K 4 Teacher, you will introduce our youngest learners to the wonders of discovery, foundational academic skills, and the love of Christ, preparing them beautifully for Kindergarten.

Key Responsibilities:
 

Faith Formation and Community:

● Integrate Catholic values, virtues, and prayer into the daily classroom routine and lessons.
● Guide children in developing a foundational love for God, kindness toward others, and a sense of community.
● Prepare students for and participate in Catholic traditions,, prayer services, and faith-based events.
 

Instructional Excellence and Classroom Management:

● Design and implement an engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on early literacy, foundational math, fine/gross motor skills, and social-emotional development.
● Utilize play-based, hands-on, and multi-sensory learning centers to meet diverse learning styles.
● Establish clear, positive, and gentle classroom routines that encourage independence, sharing, and emotional regulation.
● Assess student progress through observation and portfolios, using insights to adapt instruction.
 

Communication and Collaboration:

● Maintain warm, open, and professional communication with parents regarding their child’s growth, milestones, and daily experiences.
● Partner and collaborate effectively with the Pre-K aide, fellow primary teachers, and school administration.
● Participate in faculty meetings, PLCs, professional development days, and school-wide community events (e.g., Back-to-School Night, Open Houses, parent conferences).
 

Qualifications and Requirements:

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field required.
● Certification: Valid state teaching certification in Early Childhood Education (or eligibility to obtain it) is highly preferred.
● Faith: Practicing Catholic in good standing who is passionate about ministry through Catholic education is strongly preferred.
● Experience: Previous teaching or student-teaching experience in a preschool or early childhood setting is highly desirable.
● Clearances: Must pass all state-required background checks, child abuse clearances, and diocesan safe environment training prior to employment.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

● Deep understanding of early childhood development milestones and age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
● An abundance of patience, energy, creativity, and a genuine love for working with four-year-olds.
● Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Ability to integrate basic classroom technology (e.g., interactive boards, parent communication apps) effectively.
● Ability to collaborate collegially with grade partners
