Mechanical Engineer – NPI

<p><strong>A Mechanical Engineer with a background in production engineering ideally relating to electronic products will join the new NPI team of an award-winning High-Tech company. </strong> You’ll bring 2D &amp; 3D CAD skills, a strong understanding of DFM/DFA and experience of mechanical manufacturing methods particularly for small mechanisms.</p> <p>In this mid-level Mechanical Engineer role, reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, you will contribute to NPI projects within the production department and undertake a range of tasks such as:</p> <ul> <li>Supporting the transfer of products from R&amp;D into engineering and manufacturing whilst ensuring mechanical designs are suitable for production through DFM/DFA reviews.</li> <li>Design and develop mechanical assembly fixtures, test jigs and tooling.</li> <li>Supporting Continuous improvement and manufacturing optimization.</li> <li>Providing hands-on engineering support when mechanical issues arise in production.</li> <li>Acting as mechanical interface between R&amp;D, production, quality and operations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Your skills and experience should include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Degree in Mechanical Engineering.</li> <li>Experience working within a production / manufacturing engineering or mechanical design role with a focus on small mechanisms for production.</li> <li>3D CAD skills such as SolidWorks and ability to create 2D drawings.</li> <li>Good understanding of mechanical manufacturing methods such as machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, assemblies.</li> <li>Good knowledge of DFM / DFA, tolerance analysis, GD&amp;T and material selection.</li> <li>Experience of supporting NPI from prototype through to volume manufacture.</li> </ul> <p>Of particular interest is experience relating to electronics packaging or ruggedized product design.</p> <p>Applicants must have full eligibility to work in the UK.
