Position Summary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing cost-effective CNC machine programs and tooling diagrams for prototype and production parts while working under minimal supervision and tight timelines. This role serves as a key liaison between the R&D and Manufacturing departments, supporting new product development, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Act as liaison with the R&D team during new product development, from initial prototyping through manufacturing transfer and scale-up.

Maintain and optimize existing machining processes as directed by manufacturing management.

Review blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications to determine materials, tooling requirements, and machining methods.

Determine optimal machining methods and sequences to:

Reduce variability

Extend tool life

Decrease cycle times

Minimize secondary operations

Reduce manufacturing costs

Develop, verify, and validate CNC programs and setup parameters for prototypes and production parts.

Create and maintain required documentation.

Assist in developing and optimizing control plans to ensure machining outputs meet specifications.

Train machinists and setup personnel on new or improved machining processes.

Troubleshoot daily machining issues and provide technical support.

Audit machining processes to improve efficiency, quality, and process control.

Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.

Apply lean manufacturing principles to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Follow all safety regulations and maintain clean, organized work areas.
Required Qualifications

1–3 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including introductory programming.

Ability to read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, and sketches.

Working knowledge of G & M Code programming.

Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.

Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience installing and changing tooling, setting up parts, and editing programs for Citizen CNC Swiss Screw Machines.

Experience working in a cGMP and/or ISO regulated environment preferred.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or technical certification preferred.
