For our client, we are looking for an Engineer with experience in outfitting design within shipbuilding projects. This role is ideal for someone who understands how different vessel systems work together and enjoys coordinating technical solutions across multiple engineering disciplines. You will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and verifying outfitting elements on board vessels, ensuring technical correctness, spatial compatibility, safety compliance, and proper integration with the ship’s structure and onboard systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Designing preliminary outfitting arrangements, including spatial reservations, in accordance with project requirements.
- Creating sketches and concept layouts of outfitting solutions using design tools to support client alignment and decision-making.
- Selecting outfitting equipment based on functional requirements and spatial constraints, ensuring compatibility with ship systems and technical specifications.
- Analyzing and verifying the technical compatibility of outfitting equipment and components with vessel structures and onboard systems.
- Identifying clashes and proposing engineering solutions to resolve them.
- Preparing outfitting documentation while considering hull structure, system routing, safety requirements, and project specifications.
- Conducting and documenting verification of outfitting arrangements based on hazardous area classification requirements (e.g. EX/ATEX zones).
- Reviewing subcontractor solutions for compliance with safety and project requirements.
- Recommending technical improvements and corrective actions.
Skills and experience:
- Higher technical education (preferably Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in shipbuilding or offshore engineering projects.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools and MS Project.
- Ability to prepare technical sketches, layouts, and engineering documentation.
- Understanding of outfitting design principles, equipment arrangement, and spatial coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret hull, system, and classification drawings.
- Understanding of the integration between outfitting, vessel structure, and onboard systems.
- Knowledge of EX/ATEX requirements and general safety standards.
- Familiarity with classification society rules and industry standards related to outfitting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to prepare reports, analyses, and clear technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and ability to explain technical decisions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (structure, systems, electrical, HVAC, safety).
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- Polish language proficiency at C1 level or higher.
