<p><strong>Quality Engineer – Coatings & Chemicals (Aerospace)</strong><br /> Location: West London<br /> Sector: Aerospace Manufacturing<br /> Employment Type: Temp to Perm / Perm</p>
<p>Overview<br /> A well-established aerospace manufacturer is looking to appoint a Quality Engineer with a strong focus on coatings, materials, and chemical processes.</p>
<p>This is a hands-on Quality Engineer role focused on driving improvements across coatings, materials, and chemical processes within a complex aerospace environment.</p>
<p>You’ll take ownership of quality performance across a varied product range, working closely with production and engineering to reduce defects, improve process capability, and strengthen compliance across special processes and surface treatments.</p>
<p>The role is well suited to either an established Quality Engineer or someone stepping up from a senior inspection background who wants to move into a more process-driven, improvement-focused position.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead continuous improvement activities across manufacturing and quality processes</li>
<li>Own root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)</li>
<li>Manage non-conformances (NCRs) and customer quality issues end-to-end</li>
<li>Improve processes linked to coatings, surface treatments, and chemical processing</li>
<li>Work closely with production and engineering to improve process capability and yield</li>
<li>Support and develop supplier quality, particularly across special processes and coatings</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with AS9100 and support audit activity</li>
<li>Contribute to FAIRs (AS9102) and validation of new or updated processes</li>
<li>Drive improvements in quality systems, documentation, and standards</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Required Experience & Skills</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience as a Quality Engineer within aerospace or high-spec manufacturing</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and regulated quality environments</li>
<li>Proven track record in continuous improvement, RCA, and CAPA</li>
<li>Strong understanding of GD&T and its application within manufacturing and inspection</li>
<li>Experience working with coatings, surface treatments, or chemical processes</li>
<li>Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications</li>
<li>Confident working cross-functionally with production, engineering, and suppliers</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Exposure to special processes and NADCAP environments</li>
<li>Experience with chemically etched, machined, or fabricated components</li>
<li>Knowledge of FAIR requirements (AS9102)</li>
<li>Understanding of inspection methods and measurement systems</li>
<li>Experience operating and/or programming CMM equipment</li>
</ul>
