Justteachers is seeking a full-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist provision in the Cambridge area from September 2026 on a long-term basis.
The setting supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, and associated communication needs. The provision offers a structured and therapeutic learning environment, delivering personalised education programmes tailored to each pupil’s individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and wider support teams to deliver engaging learning experiences, provide classroom support, and lead lessons where required to ensure continuity of learning and positive pupil outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver adapted learning activities to meet the needs of pupils with SEN
• Lead whole-class, small group and 1:1 sessions in the absence of the class teacher
• Support the implementation of EHCP targets and individual learning plans
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
• Monitor, assess and record pupil progress and attainment
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to support pupil development
• Support pupils’ communication, independence and social skills
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

Pre-requisites:

• HLTA status, Level 4 qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally within a specialist setting
• Confidence leading learning and managing groups independently
• Strong understanding of behaviour management and communication strategies
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
Please note: As part of our safeguarding and compliance process, we require a minimum of two professional references covering the past two years in full.
