Anderson Knight are delighted to be exclusively supporting our client on the appointment of a new Tax Manager to join their leadership team.
Our client’s Tax Team provides expert advice and services to high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates and also handles ancillary matters, such as CGT reporting for residential property transactions.
Operating out of an Edinburgh City Centre office, the Tax Team combines technical excellence with a client-focused approach to deliver timely, high-quality service.
We are seeking an experienced Tax Compliance Manager to join our team on a hybrid working basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, client-focused tax professional to lead a small team working closely with their clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the Tax Compliance Team (currently three full-time Tax Assistants), providing guidance, mentoring, and support.
• Advise clients on tax returns, claims, elections, and liabilities across individuals, trusts, charities, and estates.
• Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission to HMRC.
• Collaborate with colleagues to implement and maintain procedures for efficient client information collection, return preparation, and tax provisioning.
• Ensure all tax payments and filings are completed within relevant deadlines.
• Manage billing processes, ensuring timely issuance of client fees.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of team processes, service levels, and client engagement.
• Support business development initiatives and participate in client and firm events as appropriate.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Strong recent experience in tax compliance, ideally including trusts and estates.
• Proven track record in advising clients on tax compliance matters.
• Proficient in tax software and HMRC online forms.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and client relationship skills.
• Legal sector experience is desired, though not essential.
Technical Competencies:
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK tax compliance and tax law.
• Ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
• Skilled in implementing processes to maintain high service standards.
• Strong advocacy skills, both written and verbal.
