You’ll join a supportive Humanities team and build strong practice across KS3 and KS4.<br> <br>*** <strong>Job Title:</strong> <strong>Geography ECT</strong><br> *** <strong>Start Date:</strong> <strong>Permanent – September 2026</strong><br> *** <strong>Pay:</strong> <strong>MPS1 – £32,916 per annum</strong><br> *** <strong>Location:</strong> <strong>‘Good’ secondary school, Shrewsbury</strong><br> *** <strong>Key Focus:</strong> <strong>ECT induction support and guidance – complete your ECT</strong><br><strong> </strong><br><strong>The Role</strong><br><ul><li>Teach Geography across KS3 and KS4 with a clear, well-sequenced curriculum.</li><li>Plan lessons that build knowledge, skills and exam confidence.</li><li>Mark efficiently and use assessment to target gaps quickly.</li><li>Create calm routines and consistent expectations that support learning.</li><li>Work closely with your mentor, HOD and wider Humanities team to develop fast.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>ECT Induction Support</strong><br><ul><li>A funded ECT induction programme across two years, with a named induction tutor and regular check-ins to keep you on track.</li><li>Reduced timetable (10% in Year 1 and 5% in Year 2) so you get protected time for planning, CPD, and observation.</li><li>Weekly mentoring with an experienced teacher, focused on your subject/phase, behaviour routines, and workload shortcuts that actually work.</li><li>A clear training and evidence plan mapped to the Early Career Framework, with bite-size targets and support if you hit a wobble.</li><li>Regular lesson observations and feedback (supportive, not “gotcha”), plus chances to watch strong colleagues and steal their best practice guilt-free.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>The Candidate</strong><br><ul><li>A Geography specialist with a related degree (Geography, Human Geography, Environmental Science, Geology or similar).</li><li>Holds QTS (or due to achieve QTS by September 2026).</li><li>Wants a permanent <strong>Geography ECT</strong> post with strong mentoring and clear expectations.</li><li>Confident communicator who can build positive relationships quickly.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Requirements</strong><br><ul><li>Degree level qualification (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject.</li><li>GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.</li><li><strong> Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.</strong></li><li>A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.</li><li>Willingness to follow school policies and engage fully with ECT training and evidence.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>The School</strong><br><ul><li>‘Good’ secondary with clear systems, consistent behaviour expectations, and a supportive culture.</li><li>Strong Humanities team with shared resources and collaborative planning.</li><li>Leadership that invests in ECTs and supports development properly.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Apply</strong><br> Send your CV to apply for this <strong>Geography ECT</strong> role.
