Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager


Location: Mineral Wells, Texas | Onsite


Compensation & Schedule

  • $36.05 per hour
  • Monday–Friday standard business hours; early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required


Role Impact

The Senior Accounting Manager serves as a key leader within the Finance Department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role drives timely closes, clean audits, responsible budget oversight, and data-informed financial decision-making for city leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure financial statements and reports are prepared accurately and in compliance with GASB and GAAP standards
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and audit preparation
  • Supervise payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure timely processing and revenue tracking
  • Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and financial forecasting to support strategic planning
  • Manage grant accounting, special revenue funds, tax revenue, and debt service in accordance with funding and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate the annual external audit and ensure compliance with state and federal reporting standards
  • Support ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and municipal finance system oversight to improve automation and operational efficiency
  • Provide financial analysis and advisory support to department heads, city officials, and leadership
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, including accountants and financial analysts


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in government or municipal finance
  • Supervisory experience with strong knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards


Core Tools & Systems

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Municipal finance and fund accounting software
  • Financial reporting and budgeting platforms
  • Payroll and accounts payable/receivable systems
  • Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools


Preferred Skills

  • Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of municipal laws, grants management, and public funds administration.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
