About the Role

Mechanical Engineer Job Description

We are working alongside a leading UK national contractor delivering projects of all sizes and complexities in the public and private sectors, including education, healthcare, defence and justice and borders. They are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team based in the North East on a contract basis.

They are currently delivering on hundreds of sites across the country, using the latest construction techniques, digital tools and carbon and community resilience strategies, showcasing their ability to innovate and offer the best value for clients. They design and deliver buildings that are key to the UK’s infrastructure – from hospitals and treatment centres, to schools, leisure centres and prisons.

This is a position of high importance to our client which will see you placed on a high value project within the MOJ sector and will run until the end of 2026.

As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Daily site safety briefings, supervising mechanical / electrical subcontractors, daily reporting, site safety compliance, QA checks, record keeping, weekly progress reporting, 6-week look-ahead, and supporting wider team.
  • Be aware that you may process an EL1 clearance in order to move over to wider site if required.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Mechanical Site management experience and up to date qualifications
  • Black or Gold & SSMTS or SSSTS
  • Basic DBS & BPSS
