Provides for the spiritual, religious, sacramental, moral, and ethical needs of patients and staff.</p><h4>Essential Functions of the Role</h4><ul><li>Manages and coordinates pastoral care, counseling, and religious services. This includes sacramental ministry, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and bereavement needs.</li><li>Supervises chaplains and mentors CPE student chaplains. They provide assessment and support to palliative care patients following joint commission requirements.</li><li>Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.</li><li>Serves as department representative to facility President or other managers.</li><li>Coordinates and provides consultation to physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. This is part of an interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs and improve care.</li><li>Conducts studies to advance knowledge and develop effective religious ministry for patients, family, and staff.</li><li>Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies, and service organizations. Supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community. Recruits, trains, and coordinates pastoral care volunteers.</li><li>Develops and maintains procedures for keeping records of spiritual counseling for patients.</li><li>Oversees, staff, and volunteers and provides clinical supervision at the level specified upon consults.</li><li>Consults with staff as needed; partners and reports to Senior Pastoral Care managers.</li></ul><h4>Key Success Factors</h4><ul><li>Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions.</li><li>Knowledge of the methods and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting.</li><li>Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.</li><li>Able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.</li><li>Interpersonal and listening skills.</li><li>Skill in counseling patients, family members and staff.</li><li>Ability to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress.</li><li>Ability to effectively participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team.</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with co-workers, health professionals, volunteers, community clergy and the general public.</li><li>Ability to use broader intentions to regulate how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals.</li><li>Ability to make or approve effective hiring and termination conclusions.</li><li>Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization.</li><li>General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.</li><li>Denominational endorsement for chaplaincy, ordination or commissioning to ministry preferred.</li><li>Clinical pastoral education (CPE) certification by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) preferred.</li></ul><h4>Belonging Statement</h4><p>We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported.</p><p><span style="color:white;">#THHFRISCO</span></p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p><ul><li>EDUCATION - Masters'<ul><li>MAJOR - Theological Studies or Related Field</li></ul></li><li>EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience, preferrably in a hospital setting and with leadership being part of the years of experience</li><li>CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -<ul><li>Board Cert Chaplain (BCC)</li></ul></li></ul>
